At Pluk, you’ll catch films before they hit Dutch cinemas – if they ever make it there at all. These are films your friends have never heard of, the kind that’ll stick in your head for days or that you’ll want to tell everyone about because they totally caught you off guard. You know the ones – those films you can’t stop talking about afterward. Our lineup is packed with stuff you won’t find anywhere else, from quirky indies to wild experimental animations.
What kind of films do we show?
We go for filmmakers with serious vision who do their own thing – usually fresh voices or people who don’t get enough attention elsewhere. Pluk is all about giving new talent a shot, especially those driven by a real need to tell their story rather than chasing box office numbers. Sometimes these directors go on to become huge. We’ve shown early work from people like Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) and Maren Ade (Toni Erdmann) way before they hit it big internationally. Our films come straight from the big festivals – Cannes, Berlin, Venice – but we pick the ones that are too edgy or weird for regular theaters. They’re sharp, raw, funny, heartbreaking. No algorithm picking these – just films that’ll mess with your head in the best way.
A totally unique film experience
Our scouts are constantly hunting through festivals worldwide for the stuff you absolutely have to see. We’re especially into debuts and voices that never get a fair shot in the mainstream. What you get is this amazing mix of features, docs, shorts, and animations – everything from completely bonkers romantic comedies to mind-bending AI animations. There’s always something that’ll surprise you. And Pluk isn’t just about movies – we throw in weird experiments too, like crying contests and live chats with AI on the big screen.
