A fuzzy stop-motion world built from corduroy, autumn leaves and pure charm. Fantastic Mr. Fox is about a fox who promises to behave, but deep down knows he was never made for it. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, and a treat for the eyes from the first frame to the last.
Mr. Fox has left his chicken-thieving days behind him. He is a newspaper columnist now, living with his wife and son in a tidy burrow and behaving, well, more or less respectably. Until the itch comes back and he cannot resist one last, glorious raiding spree on the three meanest farmers around: Boggis, Bunce and Bean.
The farmers are not having it. They pull out all the stops, from shotguns to diggers, and before long it is not just Mr. Fox who is cornered, but the entire underground animal community. What starts as a chicken raid gone wrong grows into a clever, thrilling battle, and Fox has to save his family and friends with cunning, nerve and a hefty dose of stubbornness.
Beneath all that plush lies a story about something quite tricky: how do you become who you are without driving everyone around you up the wall? Mr. Fox wants to be a good father and husband, but also to steal, run, dig and chase chickens. That causes plenty of trouble, and makes for a film full of dry jokes, odd animals and characters all trying to work out, each in their own way, where they belong.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is warm, funny and lovingly made down to the last strand of fur. A film about family, freedom and the question of whether you ever really have to grow up. And, of course, about the most charming chicken thief in film history.
