Early-evening screenings in the Pluk Tent

Back at Pluk this year: four early-evening screenings of modern classics, selected especially for teenage film fans and anyone who feels young at heart.

The screenings take place in the Pluk Tent on two Friday and Saturday evenings. Films start at 19:30 and are shown with headphones, before the main film begins on the outdoor screen.

Just imagine: after an endless summer holiday, you finally get to see your friends again. Sink into a deckchair together, put on your headphones and grab some popcorn. You can leave your parents outside. They can hang out at the bar or unwind on the Pluk terrace.

On Sunday afternoon, 23 August, we also welcome our youngest film fans to the Pluk Tent for Shaun the Sheep: Every Day’s a Party. The screening is part of Pluk MINI, our free children’s event, with lots more to enjoy, including sheep crafts, bowling and a children’s disco.

A charming coming-of-age film about survival, friendship, family and love. Hunt for the Wilderpeople became the highest-grossing locally produced film in New Zealand, and it’s easy to see why.

The film follows rebellious twelve-year-old Ricky, who escapes into the New Zealand wilderness with his grumpy foster uncle. When the unlikely pair become lost in the bush, they must put their differences aside if they want to survive. Tickets

A funny and refreshingly original coming-of-age film about Juno, a sharp-tongued, pregnant sixteen-year-old, and her unconventional search for the perfect adoptive parents for her baby.

BACK TO THE FUTURE 1 / 116 min / 1985 / Robert Zemeckis / 12+
This irresistible, timeless classic effortlessly combines adventure, humour and emotion. It’s one of those films everyone should see at least once, but could happily watch ten times.

In the first film of the trilogy, seventeen-year-old Marty McFly accidentally travels back in time using a time machine built by the eccentric Doc Brown. There, he meets his awkward father and charming mother as teenagers. Marty must find a way to bring them together, because if he fails, he’ll never be born. Tickets

TICKETS AND SCREENING TIMES
Doors open at 19:00 and the films start at 19:30. Depending on the film, screenings finish between 21:00 and 21:30.

Tickets cost €6, including the €1.50 entertainment levy charged by the City of Amsterdam.

Don’t wait too long to book. Places in the Pluk Tent are limited and may sell out quickly.

Pluk MINI turns ten. Time for a supersized celebration!

On Sunday 23 August, the first Sunday of Pluk 2026 in Amsterdam, children of all ages are invited to Pluk de Nacht. Bring your friends, neighbours, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and classmates for our annual afternoon packed with films, games and all kinds of fun.

This year’s edition promises to be one for the history books, because Pluk MINI is not so mini anymore. We’re turning ten! Hooray! Are you coming to celebrate with us? Shaun the Sheep certainly is!

Shaun the Sheep: Every Day’s a Party
Ten brand-new episodes of Shaun the Sheep will be shown during our anniversary edition. Get ready for plenty of laughs as baking a birthday cake goes horribly wrong, a fashion show descends into chaos and Bitzer tries to spot a shooting star while mayhem unfolds all around him. The episodes will be shown in the Pluk Tent from 14:00.

More than just films
As always, there is plenty to do besides watching films. Our mini Plukkers can let their imaginations run wild all afternoon.

During an animation workshop by Het Onderwater Theater, children aged six and over can dream up and create their own imaginary friend. There will also be bowling, giant pick-up sticks, Twister and table tennis. We’ll make wonderfully woolly sheep and build a birthday cake together. We are celebrating, after all!

The children’s beauty salon will open its doors again too. There will be popcorn, drinks and tasty snacks for all ages. We’ll round off the afternoon with the one and only Pluk MINI disco, complete with a smoke machine!

About Pluk MINI
Like Pluk de Nacht, Pluk MINI is run entirely by volunteers. Some of the children who visited Pluk MINI in its early years now return to help our youngest guests enjoy all the activities.

Pluk MINI has been free to attend since its very first edition. You can support the festival by buying a juice or a cup of coffee at the bar.

The programme is created especially for children aged one to ten, but everyone is welcome. We’d love to celebrate with you!

Then join us on a Friday or Saturday evening at Pluk in Amsterdam. Before the main film begins, we screen a modern classic in the Pluk Tent at 19:30, with headphones provided. Young film fans can enjoy a film in the tent while their parents have a drink by the IJ.

Movies in the Pluktent

Back again this year at Pluk: various early evening film screenings featuring (modern) classics in the tent, specially programmed for young people (and anyone who feels young at heart). On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 August 2025, we’re paying tribute to SAIL with our film programming. Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August feature two heartwarming modern classics. Sunday afternoon 24 August we’re showing POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN in the tent for the little ones during Pluk MINI (free event), where there’s much more to experience. We’ll also wave to the ships during the Sail-out parade that afternoon.

Popeye at Pluk MINI

On Sunday, August 24 from 2:00 PM, we’re once again rolling out a free afternoon full of fun for young film lovers and their friends at the ninth edition of Pluk MINI. This year, we’re bringing the classic cartoons of the super-strong sailor Popeye the Sailor Man to the festival—because on a day like this, with tall ships all around, we simply can’t ignore the call of the sea. And from the Stenen Hoofd, we’ve got the perfect view! Expect lots of waving as a majestic fleet of ships sails right past us during the Sail Out Parade, heading out of the city toward the North Sea Canal.

But we’re not just waving—Pluk MINI is packed with adventure! Inside the tent, we’ll be screening Popeye the Sailor Man cartoons, and outside there’s plenty more to do. Show off your muscles in the Great Popeye Arm Wrestling Contest, build your own boats, score strikes at the bowling alley, get your face painted, and enjoy loads of tasty (spinach-themed) snacks. There are also inspiring art projects to discover—and we’ll finish the day with the legendary Pluk MINI disco!

Did you know the Popeye cartoons are already 96 years old? Long before the digital era, these animations were hand-drawn, frame by frame. We’re showing some of the finest episodes featuring Popeye, Brutus, and Olive Oyl on the big screen inside the Pluk tent. Kids can wear headphones to dive even deeper into the world of this fearless sailor.

The festival grounds and bar open at 2:00 PM, and activities run until around 5:30 PM. Admission is free, and no ticket is needed for Pluk MINI. Want to support Pluk? Grab a drink at the bar! Just don’t forget to keep an eye on your little ones—Stenen Hoofd is surrounded by water.

Postman Pat at Pluk MINI

While the grown-ups still have to wait for their program, the little ones can already get excited because on August 25th, the first Sunday of Pluk Amsterdam, Pluk MINI is back. This children’s edition of Pluk de Nacht is a free celebration for all children aged 2 to 12, along with their parents, siblings, babysitters, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and grandparents.

Program
Starting at 2:00 PM, there will be plenty of fun activities at the Stenen Hoofd. Kids can write (and send) beautiful letters, play mega Twister and super Mikado, and bowl strikes on the candy-pink bowling alley. The films of Postman Pat, featuring the postman from the village of Greendale and his cat Jess on their exciting adventures, will be shown in the big Pluk tent where children can relax in beanbags. Of course, there will be lots of delicious treats, and we’ll end the afternoon with the one and only Pluk MINI disco! Dancing is definitely encouraged!

Pluk MINI is free, and no tickets are required.

Too old for Pluk MINI? No problem! On Friday, August 30, and Saturday, August 31, we’ll be screening another awesome must-see film in the Pluk tent before the main feature on the container screen. Lounge comfortably with your friends in a beanbag or beach chair, put on your headphones, and enjoy some popcorn. These screenings are for kids only (5 euros), and parents stay outside. The program will be announced very soon, and you can reserve your tickets then.
